Brianna Risner connected with a fastball and sent the ball sailing over the left field fence with runners on each base to abruptly end the game and send Escambia on its way with a 11-0 loss Friday to the Navarre High School varsity softball team.

It has turned into a dream season for Coach Aaron Daniel and
the dedicated girls on his weightlifting team. The Navarre High School
girls weightlifting team sent 14 girls (one less than the maximum allowed by
the state) to the state-qualifier meet held at Choctaw on Jan. 27.

It was a mixed emotion week for the Navarre High School varsity boys basketball team. It started Thursday with an emotional, 48-42,
away win over arch rival Gulf Breeze. But the following night the host Raiders came
up on the wrong end of a hard fought over-time 49-48, game against Tate’s
Aggies. The Aggie win clinched their
hold on the number one seed in the upcoming 1-5A district championship
tournament slated to get underway Feb. 8 at Pine Forest
High School.

For the Navarre High School varsity girls soccer team, it was not the happy ending they envisioned all year. For the second season in a row, Navarre traveled to Panama City to play the Division 2 district champion. Unfortunately, they did not get the same result as last year, losing to Mosley by a score of 1-0.

If the 1-5A district volleyball championship semi-final match between Navarre High School and Tate had been any closer it would probably have ended in a dead heat. But there are no ties in volleyball. The host Lady Aggies defeated the Lady Raiders in five sets, 28-26, 25-23, 14-25, 24-26, 15-10 to advance to the championship match against Milton.
