Santa Rosa County awarded $500K from BP tourism grant

Santa Rosa County will see a piece of the $25 million advertising grant awarded to Florida in order to boost tourism, which took a nose-dive since the Deepwater Horizon oil-rig explosion in April.

Pier opening scheduled for Saturday, June 5

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners, Ed Waters and Sons Contracting Company and PBS&J will host a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 to open the long awaited new Navarre Beach Pier. The public is invited to attend the event in front of the pier located at 8579 Gulf Boulevard. At 1,545 feet, the pier is the longest in the State of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.

Alabama man charged in death of Navarre father

An Alabama man, whom Florida Highway Patrol believes caused a three-car collision on May 1 resulting in the death of Navarre dad Johnny Robinson, turned himself in to Escambia sheriff’s on Thursday.
