HNFD: Oil spill may delay tax increase request

Before Rob Miodus leaves his post as chairman of the Holley-Navarre Fire District this fall, he's pledged to see through a referendum initiative that would increase the district's budget by 26-percent, phased in over five years. The tax increase request would be put before voters in the November election.

Senate panel pobe oil spill economics

With a mounting economic crisis following in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, the Senate's Select Committee on the Economy will begin meeting in early July to consider action to assist affected businesses, individuals and local governments. The initial meeting will be held July 12 in Pensacola, the area of the state hit first and worst by the spill.
