Robbery suspect still at large

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies are still looking for a person they believe is responsible for nearly a half dozen robberies this month alone.

The first robbery occurred nearly a month ago, when thieves broke into the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on the Okaloosa County/Santa Rosa County line.

Just two weeks later, T.C.’s Front Porch, a popular local eatery, and the Navarre American Legion were hit.

Deputy OK after wreck

A Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Deputy is OK after flipping his patrol car Sunday night.

Deputy Brad Baney, 27, was en route to an armed disturbance around 11:50 p.m. Sunday when his car hydroplaned and spun out of control, landing upside down on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 98.

According to a report issued by the Florida Highway Patrol, Baney’s vehicle was in  “emergency operating mode”  when it struck a palm tree, skidded over a pool of standing water and overturned.
