EX-COAST GUARDSMAN GUILTY IN KEYS MURDER PLOT
A former Coast Guard officer in the Florida Keys has pleaded guilty to a murder for hire plot involving an attempt on a local businessman. Federal court records show that 52-year-old Dennis Zecca entered the plea Monday in Key West federal court. Zecca faces up to 10 years in prison at sentencing in March. Zecca formerly served at the Coast Guard's Islamorada station.
ST. PETE COUNCIL SET TO DISCUSS URBAN FARMING
A miniature goat and sheep are happily keeping one St. Petersburg couple's lawn nicely trimmed — but the city council isn't so sure that the animals should be within city limits. The city council next month will hold a discussion about urban farming, partly because of Shelby, a miniature Shetland sheep, and Gabby, a Nigerian dwarf goat.
2 INJURED WHEN CAR CRASHED INTO BUS STOP SPEAK OUT
Two friends who were injured when a car plowed into them are sharing their story of recovery at a Miami hospital. Delia Tafur and Wendy Vasquez were waiting at a Miami Gardens bus stop on Oct. 23 when a driver lost control and crashed into them. Several others were also injured and one person died.
ESTEFANS OFFER BONGOS AND THANKSGIVING TO HOMELESS
Gloria and Emilio Estefan are offering up Bongos and turkey this Thanksgiving to homeless and other families in need. For the sixth year in a row, the musical duo will open their Bongos Cuban Cafe for a holiday feast in partnership with AARP, Baptist Health South Florida, Sedano's Supermakrets, Florida Blue and the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust.
NORTH FLORIDA MAYOR FACES DRUG CHARGES
A north Florida sheriff has filed drug charges against a local mayor, saying Bradford County isn't Toronto. Hampton Mayor Barry Layne Moore was arrested Monday afternoon in Polk County on a Bradford County warrant. Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith drew a comparison between Moore and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. Authorities say Moore faces charges of possessing and selling Oxycodone.
