Argos will head to Tampa for South Regional

INDIANAPOLIS - The West Florida baseball team will make its fourth straight trip to the NCAA tournament, as the NCAA revealed the 48-team tournament field for the 2013 Division II tournament Sunday night. The Argonauts (35-12) will be the No. 4 seed in the NCAA South Regional hosted by the University of Tampa, and they will face No. 3 seed Florida Tech (32-17) in the first round on Thursday, May 16 at 6 p.m. CT.

JACKSONVILLE – Sixty-four boys’ teams scored points Friday at the FHSAA Class 3A State Track and Field Championships, including Navarre High School – with one half of one point.

Nicholas Benton finished tied for eighth place in the long jump, soaring 21 feet, 11 inches on his final attempt. Rapheal Webb of Gainesville won the event, jumping 23-4.5.

The girls’ 12U softball team BTW – which stands for “Born to Win” – won its age group this weekend in the Northwest Florida Girls Softball Alliance midseason tournament. BTW had to win its way through the losers’ bracket in the double elimination tournament and avenged their loss against Tiger Point with a 6-5 win in the championship game.
