Lady Raiders weightlifting team wins first match

The Navarre High School girls weightlifting team picked up right where it left off last year. Placing seven girls in the state meet last year far exceeded the goals set by Raiders coach Aaron Daniel. The team lost several of those girls to graduation, but this year’s squad is off to a good start.

Navarre dominated its first meet with 46 points to Choctawhatchee’s 32 and Fort Walton Beach’s 29.
Each lifter performs three bench presses and three clean-and-jerks. Each competitor’s best weights lifted in each category are added together to determine their total weight lifted in each weight class. If the total weights lifted are tied, the tied lifter who weighs less wins.
