Navarre High School’s boys’ weightlifters traveled to Milton and dominated the five heavier weight divisions, winning the dual meet by a 52-38 score.
Anthony Gomes placed second in the 119-pound division with a 100-pound bench press and a 110-pound clean-and-jerk, for a 210-pound total.
Aubrey Wesson placed second in the 129-pound weight division. Wesson benched 165 pounds and cleaned 150 pounds, giving him a 315-pound combined lift.
The Raiders finished one-two in the 139-weight division. T. J. Woodberry finished first, bench pressing 230 pounds and cleaning 235 pounds for a 465-pound combined lift. Brock Barberi placed second with a bench press of 210 pounds and a clean-and-jerk of 205 pounds.
Steeler Wright placed third in the 154-pound class. Wright had a bench press and clean-and-jerk of 195 pounds. James McCloskey tied Wright but Wright weighed less and captured third place.
In the 169-pound weight division, Kody Kelly placed second with a bench press of 260 pounds and a 215-pound clean-and-jerk, giving him a combined total of 475 pounds. Freshman Teddy Harrell distinguished himself with a 445-pound combined lift.
Nick Benton won the 183-pound weight division with a 295-pound bench press and a 280-pound clean-and-jerk, giving him a combined lift of 575 pounds.
Jay Warren won the 199-pound weight class with a combined lift of 580 pounds. Warren had a 300-pound bench press. He attempted only one lift in clean-and-jerk and was successful with 280 pounds. Chas Swem placed third behind Warren with a bench of 270 pounds and a clean-and-jerk of 250 pounds.
Monte Thompson won the 219-pound division with a bench press of 270 pounds and a clean-and-jerk of 270 pounds, for a 540-pound total. Colton Mapoles placed second in the division with a combined weight of 530 pounds. Mapoles bench pressed 265 pounds and cleaned 265.
Marvin Darby placed first in the 238-pound division with a 295-pound bench press and a 265-pound clean-and-jerk, giving him a combined lift of 560 pounds. Mitch Posey finished second with a 300-pound bench press and a 250-pound clean-and-jerk.
In the heavyweight division, Devin Colonel finished first and Christian Gill finished third. Colonel had a 250-pound bench press and a 285-pound clean-and-jerk, giving him a 535-pound combined lift. Gill had a 240-pound bench press and a 250-pound clean-and-jerk.
Navarre’s next scheduled meet is a tri-meet March 6 at Fort Walton Beach with the Vikings and Choctawhatchee.
