Running Wild offers Double Bridge Run pre-race party

Organizers of the 2013 Pensacola Double Bridge Run and Running Wild will host the first pre-race party from noon-5 p.m. at the business’ 3012 E. Cervantes St. location in Pensacola.

Runners who register for the 15-kilometer or 5-kilometer race or those who already have registered can receive a free gift and register for prizes from Brooks, Asics, Newton and other fitness companies.

The 16th annual Double Bridge Run is nearing the 2,500 runner limit for the 15K race and the 1,500 runner limit for the 5K.

“The growth of this race is amazing to see and be a part of and we want to say ‘thank you’ to all our participants and supporters,” said Ray Palmer, executive director of the Pensacola Sports Association, the race’s managing organization.  “Running Wild is a longtime supporter of the race, their knowledge of the sport and customer service is top notch and we’re pleased to partner with them for this special one-time event.”

The Double Bridge Run, which recently was named the 11th largest 15K in the country, begins in downtown Pensacola, goes through the historic district, over the Three-Mile Bridge, through Gulf Breeze, over the Bob Sykes Bridge, and ends at the Portofino Pensacola Beach boardwalk.

This year’s race will be contested Saturday, Feb. 2. The 15K race will begin at 7 a.m., with the run/walk following at 8:30 a.m.
