Flyers open camps to fans

The Pensacola Ice Flyers hockey team will open its free agent and preseason camps later this month to the public.

Free agent camp begins Thursday, Oct. 11, and winds up after a morning session Saturday, Oct. 13. On the first day of camp, free agents will work out from 9-11:15 a.m. and goalies will audition from 2-3 p.m. A scrimmage will follow until 5 p.m. On Friday, scrimmages are scheduled from 9-10:45 a.m. and 3:15-5 p.m., with a goalie session from 2-3 p.m. a single scrimmage is scheduled from 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13. As many as five players will be asked to stay for the Ice Flyers' main camp, and as many as another five will be picked to join the Mississippi Surge’s main camp in Biloxi.
The main training camp begins Monday, Oct. 15. Head coach Gary Graham will hold two practice sessions from 9-11:15 a.m. each day. The players will scrimmage against one another from 3-5 p.m. each day until Friday, Oct. 19, when the Ice Flyers will scrimmage against the Mississippi Surge.

All events are free and open to the public. The Ice Flyers plan an open house at the Pensacola Civic Center on Saturday, Oct. 13. Navarre Press, www.navarrepress.com and @navarresports on Twitter will publish details as they become available.
