Raiders struggle at Miracle Strip Invitational

FORT WALTON BEACH – Navarre’s boys’ golf team also failed to come within 100 strokes of first place at the 2012 Miracle Strip Invitational Golf Tournament.

The Raiders four best individual scores totaled 391 – Pensacola Catholic’s top foursome needed just 288 strokes to complete the 18-hole Pines course at the Fort Walton Beach Golf Club. A day earlier, the Lady Raiders needed 115 more strokes than first-place Niceville – 444 to 329 – to finish the Oaks course.

Ty Tolbert and Chase Robbins finished the par-72 course in fewer than 100 strokes with 86 and 94, respectively, for the Raiders. Aaron Grimes shot 103 and Joe Cox carded 108. Drew Drohan finished the course in 112 strokes.

Catholic’s Joey Stills and Clay Vannoy both shot 3-under-par 69s. The Fort Walton Beach Vikings finished second in the team standings at 292.
