Mullin, Beck finish strong at Azalea City Classic

MOBILE, Ala. – James Mullin and Trent Beck paced Navarre High School’s boys cross country team to a second-place finish Saturday at the Azalea City Classic.

Mullin finished the 5-kilometer course at the University of South Alabama in 17 minutes, 32.91 seconds, fourth-best in the high school boys’ competition. Trent Beck finished seventh in 17:43.68.

Robert Hope, of University Military School-Wright Campus in Mobile, was first of 110 runners with the only sub-17-minute time (16:36.20).

McGill-Toolen Catholic High School of Mobile won the team title with a low score of 54. The Raiders were second with 74 points. Team scores are the sum of the places in which the teams’ five fastest runners finished.

Other Raiders who competed at the Azalea City Classic, with their place and time, included: 14. Jonah Griego 18:22.88; 21. Christopher Barbee 18:41.08; 27. Dominic Dudai 19:08.88; 29. Tanner Wilcox 19:10.35; 52. Brandon Gow 20:18.95.
