Navarre High School’s volleyball team needed just five matches to equal its win total from last season. The Raiders beat Escambia in three sets Thursday in the Gators’ gym to improve to 4-1 overall, 4-0 in District 1-6A.
NHS finished with a 4-22 record in 2011.
Allison Freer paced the Raiders’ 25-11, 25-13, 25-20 win with 15 digs and seven service aces. Kelsey Belmain added seven kills and seven digs, Shamani Booker had nine digs and six kills, Kelly Barrett garnered 15 assists and Sarah Betts had four kills and six digs.
The Raiders host West Florida in a non-district match Monday. The varsity teams are scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. The freshmen play at 4:30 p.m. and the junior varsity at 5:30 p.m.
