Armwood tops Class 6A football poll

Armwood Seffner received 16 of a possible 18 first-place votes and moved up a spot to top the latest AP Florida High School Class 6A football poll after whipping Brandon 55-0 in its season-opener. The Hawks replaced Miami Central, which dropped to fourth after losing its season-opener 35-3 at Loganville, Ga., Grayson High School on Friday.

Three area 6A teams garnered statewide attention – Pine Forest (three votes, 13^th place), Pace (two votes, 17^th) and Niceville (one vote, 18^th).

Pensacola Catholic received six points, tied for ninth in Class 3A.
