Navarre’s offense, sparked by Kwamane Howard’s running, got on track Friday, but couldn’t outscore Tallahassee-Florida State University High School’s potent attack. The Raiders (2-6) lost the non-district football clash with the Seminoles 42-32 at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
The Raiders hadn’t scored in their two previous games, district losses to Fort Walton Beach and Choctawhatchee, but Howard, a senior, broke loose for 186 yards rushing and four touchdowns. The Raiders also scored a defensive touchdown when Billy Mitchell took an interception 37 yards to the Seminoles’ end zone. But Navarre’s defense couldn’t stop the Seminoles’ multiple scoring threats. The visitors (8-1) had lost just once in their last 20 outings and that had come the previous week.
“Our guys were out to prove that loss wasn’t going to be repeated,” said Jarred Hickman, FSU High’s head coach.
