Swimmer Beth Barr-Bullard won a silver medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea, as a member of the 4 x 100-meter medley relay team.
Like many Olympians, she tried distancing herself from the sport that defined her early life, moving through a series of careers before turning back to the pool.
“I was running from swimming for so long, hoping to find something else in my life I could do as well,” Barr said Saturday after leading a clinic for the Navarre High School swim team at the Pullum Family YMCA. “I didn’t want to be just ‘Beth the Swimmer.’”
