The Raiders’ new baseball coach is moving to Navarre from Arizona, but he’s no stranger to Panhandle baseball.
Scott Murphy, Navarre High School’s athletic director, announced last week that David “Bubba” Meredith, a former baseball assistant coach at Tate High School in Cantonment, will be the Raiders’ third coach since January.
“I know Dave a little bit from when he was at Tate,” Murphy said. “He knows the area; he knows our facilities from bringing (Tate’s) freshmen and junior varsity teams over here.”
And the Aggies’ success traditionally and during Meredith’s tenure at Tate helped, too.
“They have a good program over there,” Murphy said. “That added to the comfort level I have with Coach Meredith.”
