For three straight years, the Navarre High School lady weightlifting team has traveled to the state tournament and placed second.
That winning tradition brings out a lot of enthusiasm for the sport.
That spunk was never more evident than on June 13, the Monday after school ended.
While most high school students found themselves sleeping in, at 6:30 a.m. the clinking of barbells, coupled with grunts of exertion reverberated throughout the high school field house. The Lady Raider weightlifting team was back at practice.
With the season some six months away, some might think it is a little early. However, nothing is too early or too difficult for this group of dedicated girls. Besides girls from the weightlifting team, the group included cheerleaders, volleyball players and cross country runners.
