For the past three seasons, Navarre High School varsity girls soccer team head coach Rob Simon always had players waiting in the wings to fill vacancies left by graduation.
He has been able to count on about eight seniors to provide team leadership. This season, with only five seniors returning, may prove to be his toughest coaching assignment since he arrived at Navarre.
Simon does have one advantage. He has been coaching most of the girls at Navarre Youth Sports Association for several years and is well acquainted with the talent on the team. The success of the season will depend on whether or not several new additions as well as bench players from last season can step up their game.
“There will be a lot of competition for each position,” senior Meghan Slaybaugh said. “No one is safe.”
