YMCA Wahoo swimming team hits the water

Mary Moorer has been around the water all her life. She has been plying her swimming knowledge for close to 30 years.

Whether it is teaching private swim lessons, swimming herself, coaching high school swimmers, coaching masters (ages 18 and older), or coaching the local YMCA summer swim team, the Wahoo, she is always smiling. The high energy swim coach can be seen early in the morning or late at night pacing the pool deck at the Betty Pullum Family YMCA Branch.

Humble to a fault, Moorer, though, is regarded by both her peers and her employers as one of the best stroke and turn swim coaches in Northwest Florida, if not the southern United States. During the fall, Moorer is the head coach of the Navarre High School Raider swim team, and during the summer, she leads the YMCA Wahoo.
