Navarre High School baseball Head Coach Mickey O’Quinn describes senior baseball player Devante Taylor as a quiet young man with a loud work ethic.
It’s that work ethic that lead to Taylor signing with Division-I school Alcorn State University in Mississippi, making him the first Raider baseball player to sign with a Division I school. DivisionI is the highest level of intercollegiate athletics sanctioned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
Taylor, who played in the positions of pitcher and outfield for the Raiders, said he anticipates being in the outfield, but there may be pitching involved. Regardless, he said it felt great to sign with the school.
