After downing the Mosley Dolphins, 7-1, in the regional semi-finals Tuesday, the Navarre Raider softball team was baffled by the pitching of Niceville’s Jessa Watts Friday. The Eagle ace left hander struck out 12 while giving up just three hits as she shut out the Navarre visitors, 6-0, and eliminating the Lady Raiders from post season play.
Kinsley Mason’s successful pitching run has been based on throwing strikes and counting on her teammate defenders to back her up while the hitters produced enough runs to win. That strategy worked well at home against Mosley, and the defense held up against Niceville, but the Navarre hitters were unable to solve Watts’ variety of pitches.
