Sometimes, reward doesn’t come without work.
“It’s like when I was learning to surf,” said Mickey O’Quinn, Navarre High School’s baseball head coach. “The first time out, I got annihilated. But the more I went back out, the better I got. By the end of the day, I was having a blast.”
O’Quinn’s Raiders wiped out in a 9-1 loss to visiting Ezell-Harding Christian School of Antioch, Tenn., on March 14, but hung 10 on the scoreboard in a run-rule, 10-0 shutout of Prattville, Ala., on March 15. Navarre finished the week with a 6-5 come-from-behind win against Gulf Breeze on March 18.
