The 2008 Navarre High School football team features Chad Lashley as the new head coach and Andrew Velazquez as the new starting quarterback. Both seem confident this team will continue the winning tradition established the past two seasons when the Raiders advanced to postseason play and won a district title in 2006.
Last year Navarre, with a 7-3 record, finished second to Fort Walton in district 2-4 A. Then they lost to undefeated Pace in the opening postseason game. In 2006, Navarre won the district title, but also lost to Pace in the first round. Including the Kickoff Classic matches, which don't count, Navarre has played the Patriots four times in two years with no success.
