The Gulf Breeze High School Dolphins baseball team got only one more hit than did the Navarre Raiders squad on March 16.
So...how did the Dolphins win 10-0, via the mercy rule, in six innings?
Coach Mickey O'Quinn tried to put it into concise words.
"What can you say?" offered O'Quinn. "We didn't field it, didn't catch it, and didn't knock it in. It's hard to pitch when the plays aren't being made behind you."
Navarre made two official errors. However, throw in a passed ball, a few Dolphins' infield hits that could have been turned into outs with good defensive plays, a few timely hits by Gulf Breeze, and seven walks by three Raiders pitchers - and the Dolphins' 10 runs on 8 hits start to make sense.
