It was a mixed emotion week for the Navarre High School varsity boys basketball team. It started Thursday with an emotional, 48-42,
away win over arch rival Gulf Breeze. But the following night the host Raiders came
up on the wrong end of a hard fought over-time 49-48, game against Tate’s
Aggies. The Aggie win clinched their
hold on the number one seed in the upcoming 1-5A district championship
tournament slated to get underway Feb. 8 at Pine Forest
High School.
“Any game between Navarre and Gulf Breeze is always emotionally
tense because of the traditional rivalry between the two schools,” said Navarre Coach
Rob Whitley. “This game was no
different. Our players did a good job of
handling that pressure.”
