Pensacola Beach Airshow not grounded after all

The sights and sounds of jets soaring overhead will indeed grace the skies and captivate aviation enthusiasts over Pensacola Beach, despite sequester budget cuts that cancelled the Blue Angels' 2013 schedule. 

 

The Pensacola Beach Airshow - featuring 23 aircraft, but not the Blue Angels - is a go to begin at 1 p.m. on July 12-13 along with a free concert featuring the Tams at 7 p.m. on July 13, announced Buck Lee, Santa Rosa Island Authority Executive Director.

JACKSONVILLE – Sixty-four boys’ teams scored points Friday at the FHSAA Class 3A State Track and Field Championships, including Navarre High School – with one half of one point.

Nicholas Benton finished tied for eighth place in the long jump, soaring 21 feet, 11 inches on his final attempt. Rapheal Webb of Gainesville won the event, jumping 23-4.5.

The girls’ 12U softball team BTW – which stands for “Born to Win” – won its age group this weekend in the Northwest Florida Girls Softball Alliance midseason tournament. BTW had to win its way through the losers’ bracket in the double elimination tournament and avenged their loss against Tiger Point with a 6-5 win in the championship game.
