Registration open for Make a Splash - Read at Navarre Library

Attention Parents: Avoid that familiar complaint from your children this summer, “I’m bored!” Summer is the perfect time for children to “set sail for the library” and “dive into a great book.” Participants in the 2010 Summer Reading Program will explore the world of water and water fun through sto­ries, songs, games and other activities about oceans, rivers, lakes, and pools and the creatures that live there.

An Alabama man, whom Florida Highway Patrol believes caused a three-car collision on May 1 resulting in the death of Navarre dad Johnny Robinson, turned himself in to Escambia sheriff’s on Thursday.

The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is set to continue its Thursday in the Park concert series with a special July 4th event on the eastern part of the parking lot behind Cocodrie’s — the same general area where Fun Fest was staged.

UWF biology professor educates commissioners on the science of oil spill

Dr. Dick A. Snyder, director of the University of West Florida Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation in the biology department, addressed the Santa Rosa County commissioners at their regular meeting on May 27, trying to dispel rumors and to scientifically evaluate the oil-spill situation, as it relates to Navarre Beach and the adjoining Florida coast.
