Grocery store giant Winn-Dixie announced the imminent closing of 30 of its southern stores this morning.

None of the Florida Panhandle stores is included in the list.

The Jacksonville-based chain announced the closures on its website this morning.  The closures affected "underperforming" and "unremodeled" stores.  The Navarre store, located just west of the Navarre Causeway Bridge in a large shopping complex, will not be affected.

Though the outlook was decidedly optimistic at the July 22 meeting of the Santa Rosa County School Board, the notoriously cash-strapped district is feeling the pinch of it's last-place ranking for per-student state funding.
