Santa Rosa County commissioners debate Navarre Beach resolution

Changes in the wording of the resolution that could convey ownership of Navarre Beach to Santa Rosa County was debated during Monday’s Committee Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. The joint resolution between Santa Rosa and Escambia counties is planned to be sent to U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson for introduction as a bill before Congress. The bill would allow the conveyance of Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach to Santa Rosa and Escambia counties, respectively.

Ann Bodenstein not seeking re-election

Santa Rosa County Supervisor of Elections Ann Bodenstein has announced she will not seek reelection next year. She has been the supervisor of elections since succeeding Doug Wilkes in 2004 but said, “It’s time to quit – I’ll be over 70 years old.”
