The Fort Pickens fishing pier will close from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. on March 15, Friday, for routine maintenance according to Gulf Island National Seashore Superintendent Dan Brown.

This is Mr. Noack with some important information. I want to inform you that we are aware of the concerning posts by a former student of NHS. It is important that you know that we have been working with sheriff's department to gauge the possibility of a threat to our students. At this time, no threat to NHS students or staff have been verified. The Sheriff's Department continues to investigate and monitor the situation. We have taken extra precaution and have increased law enforcement at school this week as well as additional administrative attention to school campus safety. On March 13, the Santa Rosa County sheriff office was made aware of rumors circulating about possible threats that would occur at Navarre High School. Deputies have been diligently working to dispel the rumors according to Sgt. Scott Haines with the sheriff’s office. Haines reported that at the present time, nothing has been substantiated; however, the decision was made to place additional deputies at the high school today for cautionary purposes. Haines stressed that no threats have been directly received against the school, but the situation is being closely monitored.
