Hurlburt to conduct off-base exercise

Hurlburt Field will conduct an off-base major accident response exercise on Monday, Feb. 2.  The day-long exercise will be conducted on the Eglin AFB range, north of the Wynnehaven Beach area in Mary Esther. Residents can expect to see emergency and military vehicle traffic entering and departing the range from an entry point across U.S. Highway 98 from the marine landing area at Wynnehaven Beach. The exercise should not impede U.S. 98 traffic. The exercise, which satisfies an annual Air Force requirement, also will include Gulf Flight and emergency responders from Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties, providing joint training necessary to be prepared for real world emergencies, such as the MH-53 crash that took place in September 2007.
