Navarre man killed in shooting

At about 12:40 a.m. on March 7, Santa Rosa County deputies received a call for suspicious activities on Larker Woods Road in east Navarre.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Philip Davenport, 31, had been shot. Davenport was pronounced dead a short time later according to Deputy Rich Aloy, county public information officer.

Crime Scene Investigators were still on site at 8:30 a.m. and the victim’s family has been notified.

The shooting incident is being investigated as a homicide and investigators are developing all leads said Aloy.
