Today has been claimed "Rotary Day" by Santa Rosa County Commissioners. A big thank you to the Santa Rosa Rotarians for all they do while they practice their motto, "Service Above Self."
If you are looking for a service organization, the Navarre Rotary Club has a lunch meeting noon every Thursday in the Tuscan Grille at the Club at Hidden Creek.
Proclamation: (Read into record during the Febraury 14 meeting of the Santa Rosa County Commissioners)
WHEREAS, Rotary International was founded February 23, 1905, in Chicago, Illinois, as the first and the largest nonprofit civic or service organization worldwide comprised of over 1.2 million professional and business leaders in more than 33,000 clubs in 200 countries; and WHEREAS, in the spirit of its motto, “Service Above Self,” Rotary International and its individual clubs have provided countless hours of community and humanitarian service benefiting not only individual communities but the world at large; and WHEREAS, Rotary is the largest privately-funded provider of international scholarships with more than 40,000 students in 130 countries studying abroad as Rotary Ambassador Scholars; and WHEREAS, Santa Rosa County is home to four (4) Rotary clubs which have maintained the “Service Above Self” attitude in building and enhancing the local community beginning with the Gulf Breeze Rotary Club, chartered September 12, 1974. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners, to honor the 108-year history of Rotary International and its member clubs, hereby declares Saturday, February 23, 2013, as ROTARY DAY and urges all citizens to join in honoring Rotary International and specifically the four (4) Rotary clubs in Santa Rosa County for their ongoing community service in living the “Service Above Self” ideal.
