Burglar runs from deputies

Marc Jackson

Marc Jackson, 32, of Navarre was arrested Dec. 24 for burglary of an occupied residence, battery, resisting an officer without violence and resisting an officer with violence.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Military Trail on Dec. 24 in reference to a burglary.

The homeowner told the deputies that someone had entered her home without permission and shoved her out of the way.

Deputies located Jackson standing in the back bedroom doorway. According to the report, Jackson showed his hands but didn’t comply with deputies’ commands to get down on the floor. Jackson stepped back into the bedroom and deputies eventually were able to place him on the floor to secure him.

“We then took Marc to the ground where he began to kick and roll away from us,” a deputy reported.

Jackson was warned that he would be tasered if he didn’t stop but he continued to kick. A deputy deployed his taser. Afterward Jackson calmed down and one of the taser probes fell out as he stood up. He then began running south on Panhandle Trail, but deputies caught him down the road and deployed his taser again.

After being medically cleared at Fort Walton Medical Center, Jackson was arrested and taken to Santa Rosa County Jail. His bond was set at $33,500.
