Gulf Breeze woman injured on Scenic Highway

Vicki Pugh, 57, of Gulf Breeze was seriously injured today in a collision on Scenic Highway.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, Pugh was driving south on Scenic Highway entering the intersection of Interstate 10 Eastbound Ramp.

Janis Chiaro, 17, of Cantonment was driving north on Scenic Highway in the left turn lane approaching the intersection of the Eastbound Ramp.

The report stated both drivers had a solid green traffic signal, but Chiaro failed to yield right of way to Pugh and attempted to make a left turn. The front of Chiaro’s vehicle collided head on with the front of Pugh’s car and both vehicles came to a final rest in the intersection.

Chiaro was charged with turning left in front of approaching traffic.

Pugh was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital for serious injuries.
