John D. Brandon, 50, of Navarre was taken to Gulf Breeze Hospital early this morning after a vehicle accident at Paloma Street and U.S. Highway 98.
In S. Bishop, 74, of Navarre was stopped in the paved median facing north on U.S. 98 at the intersection of Paloma Street, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Brandon, who was driving a 1996 Yamaha motorcycle, was traveling west on U.S. 98 in the outside westbound lane approaching Paloma Street.
Bishop, driving a 2011 SUV, was attempting to travel north across the westbound lanes of U.S. 98 onto Paloma Street and traveled into the path of Brandon’s motorcycle, according to FHP. The motorcycle struck the right rear quarter panel of Bishop’s SUV.
Bishop was unharmed but was charged with violation of right of way. His SUV suffered $8,000 in damage.
Brandon was seriously injured and transported to Gulf Breeze Hospital. His motorcycle suffered $4,000 worth of damage. The FHP report said he was wearing a helmet.
