At 6:40 a.m. Oct. 30 Linda Moyer Daniel, 52, was traveling north bound on Laguna Lane carrying students from Gulf Breeze Middle School when Daniel began experiencing medical problems.
“I called in and told them I didn’t feel well and asked if they could send somebody in,” Daniel said in a phone interview. “I guess all the subs had been taken.”
Daniel then became unconscious and fell to the right in the driver's seat, according to the police report.
“I passed out, and while I was out one of the girls on the bus turned the key off and another girl got out her cell phone and called 9-1-1,” she said. “By the time I came to the ambulance was already there.”
The bus had drifted to the right and across the private drive of 1152 Laguna Lane where it struck a tree and a brick mailbox with it's right front. The mailbox broke off its foundation and feel over into the yard. The vehicle continued forward up onto the mailbox before stopping and coming to rest facing northeast, according to the report.
Neither the driver nor the 11 passengers were injured in the collision, the report said.
Daniel was transported to Gulf Breeze Hospital were test were run with no answers in sight.
“I am a health freak, I take good care of my body,” she said. “I heard one of the nurses call it a ‘sinkable episodes’ where it just happens for no reason.”
Daniel will be released from the hospital when all of her test results are in, and will then need to be cleared by the Department of Transportation in order to be back on her bus route.
