A two-car accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. Thursday at U.S. Highway 98 and Navarre Beach Causeway involving a white sedan and a Spider DOT truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol report a white Honda, driven by Jenna Ellerbee, 25, of Mary Esther, was westbound on U.S. 98 making a left turn onto the Causeway.

A Ford truck, driven by David Gerardi of Cantonment, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 98 and had a steady green light as he crossed through the Causeway intersection. The report stated Ellerbee failed to see Gerardi because of an unknown vehicle sitting in the eastbound turn lane across from her when she attempted to make a left turn.

Gerardi braked, causing his vehicle to skid eastbound. He continued forward, veering to the right and struck the Honda in the right side with its frontend, according to the report. The Honda was rotated clockwise and traveled onto a curbed divider where it came to final rest facing south.

The truck rotated counterclockwise and pulled into the Causeway median where it came to final rest facing east. The right rear of the Honda struck the left side of the truck as both vehicles were rotating in opposite directions.

Ellerbee and Gerardi both suffered minor injuries but were not transported. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
