Cigarette likely caused brush fire

Holley-Navarre Fire District crews fought a brush fire March 8 off Joe Pruitt Road.

Crews from Holley-Navarre Fire District responded to a brush fire around 3:15 p.m. March 8 on Joe Pruitt Road off State Road 399.

According to HNFD, the 1/4 acre fire was burning on an empty lot. The flames were stopped about 50 feet from one residence and no other houses were threatened. The fire department was on scene for about 30 minutes. The cause of the fire was most likely from a discarded cigarette, according to HNFD.
