Navarre resident succumbs to injuries from FWB crash

A Navarre resident succumbed to injuries he received in a car crash in downtown Fort Walton Beach Nov. 3.

Sean Markham, 29, of Navarre, was pronounced dead at Sacred Heart Hospital Nov. 17.

Markham's car was rear-ended by a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Christopher Eugene Terrell, age 39, of Mary Esther. Although the high-speed impact hurled Markham's car into the median, Terrell did not lose control of his vehicle and his truck came to a controlled stop after the crash.

Terrell had reportedly begun pursuing Markham from Okaloosa Island over Brooks Bridge into Fort Walton Beach. Approaching St. Mary Avenue westbound on U.S. Highway 98, Markham braked hard as his vehicle approached other traffic at approximately 5:45 a.m. that morning. Terrell's truck rear-ended the Markham car and also struck another vehicle.

Markham was ejected from his blue 2009 Nissan 370-Z during the crash.

A passenger in Markham's car and the drivers of the other two vehicles involved in the crash did not receive serious injuries.

Charges are pending a traffic homicide investigation by the Fort Walton Police Department.
