Laurel Street closure

The closure of a portion of Laurel Street in Oriole Beach will now take place Nov. 7 until approximately Nov. 20, weather permitting. The closure was previously announced for two weeks starting Oct. 31, but crews were able to start the project this week without closing the street.

Beginning Monday, November 7, Laurel Street from Magnolia Street west to Bay Street will be closed. The west bound traffic detour is north on Bayview Lane or Redwood Lane to U.S. Hwy. 98. The east bound detour is north on Oriole Beach Road to U.S. Hwy. 98. Homeowners will have full access to their homes at all times. The closure is part of a hazard mitigation grant drainage project, which will minimize recurring flooding and reduce repetitive flood loss to 210 structures and provide protection against a 100-year storm event.
