Georgia man seriously hurt in morning wreck

A Marietta, Ga., man was taken to Baptist Hospital for treatment of serious injuries following a two-car crash Friday morning.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol release, Steve T. Mize, 54, was traveling eastbound on a motorcycle on Gulf Boulevard at 8:40 Sept. 30, when a car, driven by Penny L. Wilcox, 27, of Navarre, attempted to make a left turn into an apartment complex.

Wilcox failed to yield to Mize and the two collided. Wilcox suffered minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

Wilcox was cited for violation of a right-of-way, and charges are pending against Mize following the outcome of a blood alcohol screen.

Mize was not wearing a helmet.
