Tropical Storm Nate is moving southeast slowly over the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico, but it expected to make an erratic eastward or northeastward move today, according the Weather Underground.
Nate has the strength to become a hurricane by Saturday. Its maximum sustained winds have increased to 50 miles per hour and 80 miles per hour gusts.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for Mexico from Chilitepec to Celestun and a tropical storm watch is in effect for Mexico from Celestun to Progreso. A tropical storm watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area for 48 hours.
