The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is hosting an Alternatives Public Meeting concerning proposed improvements to State Road 87 from SR 87 South at U.S. Highway 90 to SR 87 North on Tuesday, Aug. 16 from 5 - 6 p.m., at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium, 4530 Old Bagdad Highway in Milton.
The format will include a formal presentation followed by an open house type meeting.
The primary objectives for this project are to facilitate a more effective freight movement and hurricane evacuation route from the coast, to reduce congestion in the City of Milton, and promote economic prosperity while minimizing impacts to the community and environment. The goal of the meeting is to provide the public with the analysis findings, and to gather public input. Based on the corridor analysis and public input received at the Jan. 27, public corridor meeting, the three northern corridors were determined to be viable. The alternative(s) that will move forward into conceptual design will be selected based on the analysis and public comments received. The draft project documents will be available for public review from Aug. 9 - 16, at the Santa Rosa County Engineering Department, 6051 Old Bagdad Highway, Suite 300, Milton, FL. Persons wishing to submit written statements in place of, or in addition to, oral statements may do so at the meeting or by sending them to Peggy Kelley, 1074 Highway 90 East, Chipley, FL 32428 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . All exhibits or statements postmarked on or before Aug. 30 will become a part of the public record.
