Oil spill cleanup efforts create employment opportunities

Area non-profit employment and training agency, Workforce Escarosa, plans to host a hiring event tomorrow, Wednesday, June 16, beginning at 9 a.m. until noon at East Milton Park. 

The event is planned to recruit and screen several hundred applicants who will assist with oil spill cleanup efforts in Santa Rosa County. Although the agency recently conducted a series of oil spill recruiting events, accepting over 4,000 applications, they are still in need of general laborers residing in Santa Rosa County.

Applicants must be Santa Rosa County residents, and are required provide proof of residency. Individuals must bring a valid Driver’s License or ID, with a verifiable Santa Rosa County address, as well as proof of U.S. Citizenship in the form of a social security card, birth certificate, or passport. Those who do not provide the necessary credentials will be turned away. Available positions are for on-shore general labor. Individuals with HAZWOPER or OSHA certifications are asked to bring copies of their credentials for verification purposes. A drug screen and comprehensive background check will be conducted on all qualified applicants by the employer.
