Stewart convicted of DUI manslaughter

The driver who struck and killed Batholomew Cole was convicted of DUI manslaughter and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury on April 27.

Joseph Ronald Stewart was accused of fleeing from a previous crash on U.S. Highway 98 on April 1, when he struck and killed Cole. Cole's wife, Jennifer, and passenger, Joel Rodriguez, were also seriously injured. The crash occured at the intersection of East Bay Boulevard and Mossy Oaks Drive in Navarre.

Sentencing for Stewart will be at 2 p.m. on June 2. He could face up to 25 years in prison.
