Raiders win over Pace, advance to district final

The Navarre High School varsity boys soccer team defeated rival Pace Tuesday night, advancing the team to the district finals.

After 90 minutes of regulation time the score remained dead locked at 0-0. Ten minutes of extra time was added to the clock at the teams went at it again. With only 40 seconds left in the first extra time Landon Scheffler lined up for a corner kick.

“I was trying to drive it low and hard through the box to Derek Borgesteede,” Scheffler said.

Instead, the ball hit a defender and bounced backwards into the net and the Raiders’ celebration began.

“These guys worked hard,” Coach Jeff Knapp said. “It was justice that we won. We’re notd one yet. I like our chances Friday against Tate.”
