At its Jan. 25 Committee meeting, the County Commission moved to its Jan. 28 agenda the permit issuance for operation of the Suncoast Concrete Inc. construction and demolition facility.
For well over an hour, residents -- including those from Holley and Navarre -- spoke to the health and environmental dangers of such a site near water systems that funnel to the east and south areas of the county.
Most vocal may have been Navarre resident Etta Lawlor, who spoke multiple times, ultimately asking that the issue be tabled for further discussion.
However, the Commissioners let pass without objection the issue's being on Thursday's regularly scheduled metting's agenda.
