Around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, security forces closed all gates on the base for outbound traffice for less than two hours while the base responded to the isolated incident, according to a press release issued by Eglin public affairs.
"After a report of an assault on base, our Eglin security forces responded swiftly and appropriately," said Col. Bruce McClintock, 96th Air Base Wing commander. "We kept the gates closed as the investigation unfolded in order to maximize saftey and security."
Two people were held for questioning and more information will be released as it becomes available.
